Lawrenceville Farmers' Market
Lawrenceville is considered a “food desert” due to the lack of access to fresh foods. In order to combat this situation, Lawrenceville United, with the support of Councilman Patrick Dowd and Goodwill, created an open-air farmers’ market in 2011. The purpose of the market is to not only provide access to fresh, healthy foods for Lawrenceville residents and visitors, but also engage low-income and the senior community by engaging farmers’ willing to participate in subsidy programs.
Each year, the market will run every Saturday from Early June through October from 12:30p – 4p in the parking lot of Goodwill (118 52nd Street). The market is overseen by the Lawrenceville Farmers’ Market Advisory Committee, which is open to all residents and stakeholder who have an interest in the operation and management of the market.
The 2013 season runs from June 1 to the end of October.
